HEAT

 Introduction - Heat Media pack##

Media language

1) How are the cover lines written to make the audience want to buy the magazine?

The cover lines are written in bright colors all over the cover and they are also very bold which attracts the readers' attention. There is also a lot of punctuation used like exclamation marks. The cover lines are also written in sans serif font which means bold and eye-catching in media terms.

2) What are the connotations of the Heat color scheme on this particular front cover?

Yellow, white, and pink are the main colors in the scheme of the cover. These colors are very bright and eye-catching but also simple and don't make the cover look tacky

3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression, etc.)

The pictures get the audience's attention because they are famous celebrities which many people of this day and age care about. Because the public may not get as much access to their favorite celebrities' lives.
The pictures also create a vision of drama because the pictures may have a deeper meaning which we need to read the magazine to find out about.

4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.

Tatler is much more simplistic and not as eye-catching compared to heat. Tatler only includes 1 full-size picture and a lot of white text on top of it unlike Heat which contains multiple introductions to stories included with multiple pictures, different types of font and colors

Media Representations

1) What type of celebrities appear on the front cover of Heat? List them here.

Harry.

Meggan

Liam

Cheryl

Dani

2) How are celebrities represented in Heat? (Positively? Negatively? Reinforcing or challenging stereotypes?)

The cover shows the celebrities in positive and negative aspects, it depends on what the situation is and what they know about it but in my opinion majority of this cover is shown as negative.

3) How are women represented on the cover of Heat? Think about both images and cover lines here

The majority of the women on the cover are in some kind of love drama and showing them as the superior in the relationship

for example: Harry and Megan's biggest mistake yet shows that something may have gone wrong the the relationship

4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class/working class)
Heat is more directed at working-class people because it is more about celebrity gossip which the higher class people may not be interested in at all unlike Tatler which rarely shows is more targeted and more of a niche audience and also known as upper class people.
